Break Your LOA Bad Habits #1- Beating Up on Yourself When You’re Down

Breaking our Law of Attraction Bad Habits (2)

I’ve been thinking lately about some of the ‘bad habits’ I’ve seen myself and other LOAers get stuck in and how we can get unstuck from them. I’ll be sharing my tips with you in this blog and video series.

#1 Bad Habit: Beating up on yourself when things go wrong

This first habit is one I’ve experienced a lot in my Law of Attraction (LOA) journey and it can be easy to fall into when we start using LOA. It’s based on the understanding that we create our own reality, which is true and can be exciting, but can also tie us in knots of feeling over-responsible.
Let me explain. If we’re attracting good things into our lives, then we’re pretty happy and even smug about creating our own reality, right? As Abraham-Hicks teachings suggest, we can pat ourselves on the back and say ‘I did this’. The problem starts if things start to go wrong, (and they will, as nobody is immune to contrast and variety in their experiences).
Us LOAers can plummet into a downward spiral, worrying how we created this unwanted situation or feeling, feeling like a failure at manifesting, or just plain beating ourselves up and feeling the weight of responsibility for creating it all.

The turnaround:

Whilst I agree that we all create own own reality, our responsibility is really to look at how we react and respond to what’s manifesting (rather than focusing on the fact that it’s manifested and that we feel badly about that). So, the next time something goes wrong and you feel yourself descending into negative thoughts about it and why it’s happening take a moment and take your power back.
Decide how you want to respond.
Do you really want to go down the road of beating yourself up about it, which will only increase the energy and momentum around the issue (and most likely keep it in your mind) OR do you want to self soothe, to put things in a different perspective and slow down that momentum?
I’m a great fan of self soothing in these situations. It does take a bit of practice to make the choice to respond posititvely rather than instictively react negativey (and we don’t always manage in the moment at first), but with practice it gets easier and becomes the natural thing to do.

Top tips for soothing yourself:

My tips for self soothing include reminding myself that this too shall pass (thank you Abraham, my favourite LOA teachers, for that) and remembering that maybe it’s not quite the big hairy deal that I’m making it out to be. If that fails, a good nap and some EFT tapping will ususally bring me back to feeling better about it. Or distracting myself with something else that feels good (e.g. a walk in nature) can help any negative momentum subside.
Typically, once I’ve changed my energy around the situation, then I see ways to actually change or improve the situation. That inner work always helps to pre-pave the way for dealing with the issue that triggered the downward cycle in the first place.

Try it out.

If you’re finding yourself wrestling with a situation and feeling bad about it, then try this quick round of EFT tapping to help soothe yourself into feeling better. To watch the video, click here or on the image below. Enjoy.

Over to you.

It’s fun to hear what you have to say about this theme of beating ourselves up when things go wrong because we know we create our own reality.
Is this a habit that you’ve recognised in yourself and your journey with the Law of Attraction? Or is it something you’ve sidestepped or overcome?

I like to share this information far and wide, so please share it with your friends, so less people will fall into that particular bad habit.

Thank you.
