How to use EFT tapping for clarity when making decisions and choices.

Does making decisions drive you crazy?

In my last post I shared my top tips to help you choose what’s right for you. This week, I’m going deeper, and I’m sharing about how to use my favourite tool, EFT tapping, to help you get out of all the crazy thoughts that can keep you confused when you’re trying to make a decision or a choice.

Firstly, I’d like to make a quick clarification.

Are you choosing or deciding?

It may seem like a subtle difference, yet it has a big influence. When we ‘decide’ something, it feels final. It’s like coming to conclusion, it shuts down other options or possibilities. That’s what most of us desire, to get out of the question, to have that certainty. Yet, there’s a pressure that accompanies decision making. It becomes important and so we’re under the stress of ‘having to get it right’.
Choosing, on the other hand, as I mentioned last time, has more flexibility. You can choose and then choose again. That takes the pressure off (which is why I adore my last tip of the last post), even when we stick with our original choice.

Why EFT tapping helps.

When we have trouble making decisions and are concerned about getting it right we bring to the fore old patterns and behaviours that often do not serve us. We can remember other times that we made decisions that didn’t go well (thus effectively pre-paving a similar result this time). When the decision seems significant, and we lack confidence in ourselves we can feel buckle under that pressure and lose our capacity to choose with ease.

When we use EFT tapping and directly address these issues, for example, the stress of choosing or the memories of past ‘failures’, those issues and insecurities start to fade. A decision that seems like a mountain in one minute can be reduced to a mole-hill several minutes later, once we start to clear the worries and concerns underneath.

I see this most clearly in my work with pet owners. When they have elderly pets and are making decisions about treatment or even euthanasia, they come to me highly stressed, emotionally charged and sometimes paralysed by the potential significance of the choices they face (it can literally be a life or death decision).
I’m aware that often, deep down, they are aware of the best course of action, yet doubt themselves or over-think themselves into confusion.
When I get them to tune in to how they are feeling and then to tap on that, things start to change in moments. The tapping basically gets them out of fight or flight mode, so they can start to think clearly again. When we address the underlying issues e.g, guilt or self judgement about what else could have been done, it’s like a veil has been lifted and they’re no longer being ruled by their emotions.
Then, they start to be able to choose with clarity, in the present moment. The relief on their faces is palpable and the way forward becomes clear. That’s why I adore EFT tapping.

Try this round of EFT tapping for yourself if you’re finding it challenging to make a decision or choice. It will help you shift from confusion to clarity. There may be deeper work to do, yet you’re likely to notice real change in just these few minutes of tapping. Will you join me?

Over to you

It’s fun to get your feedback if you’ve tried the tapping, so leave me a comment under this post if you tried it. Did you notice a difference? Did it seem easier to choose after doing the tapping?

As ever, please feel free to share this with the people you know who could benefit from it and know that if you require further support I offer private sessions worldwide via phone or skype.

Thank you.

  1. Ferris, I love the distinction you make between choosing and deciding! SO TRUE!! I will have to watch my language when I find myself with a choice to make. I have tried tapping and have enjoyed it each time. I do find your guidance more beneficial though than when I do it by myself.

    • April, it’s really lovely to hear that you’re enjoying the tapping and that the guided tapping is more beneficial than when you tap solo, thanks ever so much for letting me know.

  2. I love EFT tapping and I have used it often to shift my fear or anxiety. I love what you say about being pressured with decision making as it feels so final and takes out other possibilities and how choosing to make a choice makes a huge difference. Love your video of EFT too. Great language with the tapping video too.

  3. Yes, there’s a big difference between choosing and deciding. I like how you point out that past decisions can have an effect on our ability to choose. My most anxious decisions are when I have to choose whether or not to invest in business training. Tapping helps me to calm down and make a calm assessment 🙂

    • Thanks for your comment Deny. I’m glad you use tapping to help you calm down before making your investment decisions. A calm mind is so much clearer and wiser.
