Do you believe in yourself?

What do you believe about yourself?

Do you feel like a success or a failure – in which areas of your life?

Do you have goals that you think are out of reach for you?

How we think of ourselves is flavored by our life experiences, our perception of success and failure and how we see the world (is it fair, unfair, hostile, friendly or dangerous?).

We all have beliefs that can hold us back e.g. I’m not good at this, I’m too old to change. These can affect our confidence in ourselves and our abilities to reach our goals. They can seed doubts within us.

When this happens, we often want others to believe in us, to boost our confidence, to tell us that ‘we can do it’. Whilst I do believe that it is invaluable to surround yourself with positive people who see the best in you and I thoroughly recommend that you do this, sometimes no outside sources of re-assurance can be believed over our own self judgments and self doubts. The opposite is also true, if we believe in ourselves and our path in life, then it doesn’t matter to us what others think or say, we are strong in our inner knowing and it shows.

So, how do we overcome our doubts? We often have evidence of their vaildity to overcome e.g. I didn’t get that job, I wasn’t able to lose that weight, I’ve never earned as much as that before.

1. List all those reasons WHY you can’t reach that goal – and see if that is a pattern that has repeated in your life. You can answer the question ‘I can’t do this because …..’.

2. Tap those old patterns and associated beliefs with EFT, using specific examples and memories. You can also tap along with the tapping video I’ve made especially for you on this subject, which is at the end of this post.

3. Start to gather evidence about your brilliance – your successes, your positive qualities and strengths (ask trusted friends what they think your strengths are). You can also imagine having those qualities that you admire in others and want to cultivate for yourself e.g. courage, fiestyness, calmness.

4. Use your imagination – imagine reaching your goals and how good it feels inside. You can imagine it like it’s a film playing on a big screen. I want you to focus how it feels in your body, what positive emotions it brings up. If imagining the ‘situation’ feels confusing or brings up resistance e.g. doubt – get tapping and then really focus on tuning into how it FEELS, rather than the details of how it plays out. Then you start to ‘feel it real’.

Here’s a tapping video to help you grow your belief in yourself. Enjoy. If you don’t see the picture below, click here to see the video.

overcome doubt and believe in yourself

Now it’s time for you to take action.

Try the exercise above and tap along with the video then tell me how you got on. What limiting beliefs came up for you? Are your self doubts fading? Can you imagine yourself as more successful now?’ Leave your comments below the blog post. Thank you.

Be brilliant – and believe in yourselves.

  1. Hello Ferris!

I enjoy reading about your technics and I certainly will use them. I like the analytical approach you have. First list, then work on it and then bloom. If I understood correct, the tapping order is allways the same. (?)It is good to write things down and look for a long time at your thoughts. Then it is easier to observe them objectively….Do I really want to believe in this? Is it really worth it? Does it make any sense to roll those thoughts in your head?

I appriciate your work. All the best.

( you know me as Päivi from the Skypelaughter…….)

    • Hi Päivi,

Thanks so much for dropping by. I’m delighted that you’re enjoying reading about my techniques.
With the EFT tapping the order of the points is always the same, yes, it makes it really easy to remember.
It is great to write things down – and useful to rate the intensity of negative emotions on a scale of 0-10 (0 being not an issue, 10 being as big as it can be), so that if you tap, you really get a sense of the progress, as the intensity level drops and the issue seems to become less important.

      Great to hear from you,

      Happy laughing,
