Getting to the root of the issue

dandelion with rootOne of the core principles of thought gardening is weeding out the negative thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back. If you don’t do that, then any positive thought seeds that you sow will have a tough time competing with those pre-existing mind weeds.

I am a gardener, of plants as well as thoughts, and I’ve come across my fair share of weeds in the garden. I’m always fascinated by the deep rooted weeds, the dandelions and couch grass, and I can’t help but admire their determination to survive.

Yet, when it comes to my thoughts, I’m not so kind to those determined weeds. Our negative thought patterns can cause us great distress, especially when those patterns run deep.

Often, we learned these patterns early in our lives. If we were criticized as a child, we learned very quickly to keep quiet and not express ourselves freely. This can present challenges in later life, for example if we need to speak publicly, voice our opinions at meetings, even if we want to make new friends. Sometimes one episode in our childhood, e.g. being humiliated or scolded by a teacher, can be enough to ‘scar’ us for life.

Yet, it doesn’t have to be that way. We can stop living from those old patterns, we can root them out and start afresh. When using EFT tapping with my clients, I see how these old events and patterns were re-triggered in their every day life, but once we addressed them, by working from their current issue and clearing it back through their past – through all the times when it reared it’s head – we released it’s hold and they were free to move forward with a fresh and more positive attitude.

So, if you have a persistent issue, it is well worth tracing it back to it’s roots, back to it’s core. From my own EFT experience, I found found that it is much easier to do this work with an ally, preferably  an experienced and trained practitioner like myself. Whilst, we can, and should, tap on our own issues (and it does bring great relief in the moment) it can be hard to deeply confront our own issues and challenges and see past our blindspots. By working with others, I have made great breakthroughs, that I just couldn’t have reached on my own.

It is my privilege to do this work and help others in this way. If you have an issue or pattern that you are ready to let go of, and you want to be supported on that journey, I’m here for you. If that sounds like you, send me an email at info@thethoughtgardener.com and I’ll be happy to connect with you.
