Don’t put a happy sticker on it but do fake it ’till you make it.

If you know me, you know that love personal development and applying the Law of Attraction to create an amazing life. But sometimes Law of Attraction ideas can seem contradictory to eachother and can even seem confusing.

Putting a happy sticker on it

Some people think that, to attract good things you have to always be happy, so they pretend that they are happy even when they aren’t. That may sound like a good plan, to be positive, but it can be a dangerous approach if your real feelings underneath are negative and festering. My favourite teachers, Abraham-Hicks call this ‘putting a happy sticker on it’ and use the example of an empty gas tank. Putting a happy sticker on it won’t help it go.
The Universe responds to our real thoughts, so it will respond to underlying fears, doubts and other negative emotions as well as any enforced ‘happy’ thoughts (basically you aren’t fooling the big U when you say you’re happy when you’re not). You gotta release those thoughts and feelings that are pulling you down if you truly want to soar and then gradually improve your emotional set point for a smooth ride to feeling good.

Fake it ’till you make it

On the other hand, if we want to change our circumstances we do need to change our thoughts.
One way of doing that is to use our imagination, to PRETEND.
By feeling into what it would be like to have a certain circumstance, for example if you want an improved relationship, then you do start sending out a different vibration about it.
By writing a script of how you want things to be, you do start pre-paving the way for better things to manifest.
The trick here is not to send out mixed messages and to gently ease your way into these new improved feelings. If you can really feel the passion and excitement of what you want, without underlying doubt, then you know you’re on the right track.

So, what’s the best approach?

In this weeks video I share my thoughts on these concepts and some tips on how to stay true to your feelings whilst opening up to positive change and improving your personal circumstances.
