The new year usually sees us creating new plans, new goals and new aspirations and that’s a good thing. It’s great to have a vision or a goal to aim for. It’s like planning a garden, you need to know what you want before you start planting, right?
Yet, I see so many people struggling with their goals. They’ve written them down, maybe even affirmed them but soon the willpower or motivation wavers and the doubts creep in. These doubts and negative thoughts are what I refer to as mind weeds and sometimes they feel like heavy baggage that weighs us down and slows our progress.
They’re those old patterns and beliefs that you’ve been carrying around for years, maybe since childhood. The ones that say ‘who are you to do this?’ ‘remember how you failed last time’ ‘you’re not good enough’? They’ll remind you of all those times you failed, how you don’t have what it takes etc.
I encourage you to take note of what the patterns are that you perpetuate and what negative self talk goes on in your head. Write them down and them systematically tap on them (with EFT tapping*), including the memories that ‘support’ and ‘prove’ them e.g. that time you forgot you failed a test in school.
It’s amazing to feel the difference once you aren’t feeling weighed down by all those past ‘failures’. It frees you up to live in the moment with a clean slate. It really is a fresh start and you’ll literally feel much lighter and brighter.
A simple exercise to support this and start the clearing process is a technique I’ve mentioned before, called bundling baggage, created by EFT Master Lindsay Kenny.
Watch the video below to try it for yourself.
Do share any insights you get from the tapping in the comments section below, I always like to hear from you.
Also, feel free to share this blog post so more people can dump their baggage and reach their goals with greater ease. Thank you.
